Francis Smith

Hardtail Capital is led by Francis Smith, an entrepreneur and former small business owner. Francis has spent the last 8 years managing P&Ls, leading HR and finance operations, and building culture within small businesses. Prior to founding Hartail Capital, Francis founded and operated a craft brewery. The company continues to excel under the guidance of Francis' co-founder. Prior to the brewery world, Francis was a project-manager in the construction industry focused on the life sciences sector.
Francis holds an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland. When not working, Francis loves to hike, bike and explore the outdoors with his fiancé Carrie.
